Storyline:In 1964, Alberto Giacometti (Geoffrey Rush) is one of the most important painters and sculptors in Europe. Accordingly, his good friend, the young writer and art lover James Lord (Armie Hammer) feels flattered when he is asked if he wants to sit for the new portrait of the master's model. But Lord quickly realizes that the model sitting takes much longer than expected, because Giacometti's creative process is sometimes fascinating and intense, but just as often completely chaotic and irritating. Thus, the emergence of the image dragged on for weeks, because the as sophisticated as eccentric painter makes his progress again and again, feels just not in the mood or otherwise busy - such as with his lover Caroline (Clémence Poésy) or his wife Annette ( Sylvie Testud).
