Storyline:In "L.A. Crash" director Paul Haggis tells the past 24 hours in the life of completely different people who have much more in common than it first appears. Anthony (Ludacris) and Peter (Larenz Tate) steal the car from prosecutor Richard Cabot (Brendan Fraser) and his wife Jean (Sandra Bullock). This is problematic for Richard for several reasons. On the one hand, new elections are coming soon and he does not want to offend the black population, on the other hand, his already terrified woman is completely disturbed from now on. Daniel (Michael Pena) pushes a night shift after the other at a locksmith's so that his little daughter can grow up in one of the quieter, but also more expensive areas. The small shop of the Iranian Farhad (Shaun Toub) has already been attacked several times. In order to protect himself and his wife, he creates, against the will of his daughter Dorri (Bahar Soomekh), a firearm. The patrolman Ryan (Matt Dillon) finds no sleep at night because of his seriously ill father (Bruce Kirby). In the service he regularly crosses the borders. In front of the black TV director Cameron (Terrence Dashon Howard) he taps his pretty girlfriend Christine (Thandie Newton). His young, ambitious partner (Ryan Phillippe) then shows him to her supervisor (Keith David). And then there's Graham (Don Cheadle) and Ria (Jennifer Esposito) investigating a case that has a very political dimension ...

Storyline:Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle) manages an expensive hotel in Kigali and experiences the race riots of Rwanda as part of everyday life. For him, however, the breed is not a category of thought - he is Hutu and happily married to Tatiana (Sophie Okonedo), a Tutsi. When the Rwandan president is allegedly assassinated by Tutsi rebels after signing a peace treaty with the Tutsi, the situation in the country escalates. Hutu militias roam the streets, indiscriminately murdering people they consider Tutsi. In order to bring his own family to safety, Paul takes her and several Tutsi neighbors to the hotel, which is secured by Blauhelmen. There he learns from the Canadian Colonel Oliver (Nick Nolte) that international troops are already on their way to Rwanda. Reluctantly, Paul grants shelter to other refugees in the hotel. But then follows the great disillusionment: The UN troops are only to bring the tourists safely out of the country, while the protection of the civilian population, no soldiers are provided.
