But there is a problem for the acclaimed producer of the series, Christof (Ed Harris): For some time Truman has had an increased urge to break out of his small civil life and to get to know the big wide world. Christof tries by all means to keep his star in his little world, which incidentally is financed mainly by product placement. But Truman's thoughts are all too often about a mysterious girl (Natascha McElhone) whom he met years ago and for whom he still has feelings. In search of her, Truman becomes more and more suspicious of his environment - until Christof's whole construct threatens to collapse. But he is not beaten yet.
