Storyline:Always a gum in the mouth, always a smile on his face. Always hoping to make a "unique" career. This is Texan Joe Buck (Jon Voight). In cowboy gulf the naive Jügling comes to New York to pursue a career as a "rent-a-truck": earning money by beautifying bored city women the night hours. But his plan does not work out, instead of making money, he loses one dollar at a time. Soon he is broke, lives on the street and is relieved by the petty criminal Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman) for his last few dollars. But Joe does not give up. He finds Rizzo and makes friends with the man he actually wanted to beat for theft. Together, the two stranded men try to give their existence finally a livable direction ...
