Storyline:Leo Demidow (Tom Hardy) is a military policeman, a stooge of the Soviet Union under Stalin, a state instrument. He does not question his orders and feels bound by no morality that is not dictated by the party. Of his superiors, Leo is regularly reminded that in his country - according to the official line - there are no specific crimes, such as child murder. But when the corpse of the small son of a fellow officer is found and the state apparatus tries to cover up the obvious murder, Leo comes to his pondering. When another child is murdered, Leo hires his own investigation and gets targeted by his superiors. He arouses the mistrust of militia leader Nesterow (Gary Oldman) and is sent to provincial exile with his family. While Leo's ambitious rival Vasily (Joel Kinnaman) plays into the cards, Leo's search for the killer becomes more and more dangerous - not only is his life in danger, his trust in his wife Raisa (Noomi Rapace) is put to the test.
Storyline:Swinging Sixties, London: Identical twin brothers Ronald and Reginald Kray (Tom Hardy) bring dubious fame to the underworld of the bustling English capital. Storyline:May 1940, the Second World War rages: The Nazis have surrounded the French harbor town of Dunkirk, and the situation seems hopeless for their inhabitants and the 400,000 soldiers stationed there.
