Storyline:The child psychologist Mary (Naomi Watts) lives since the death of her husband secluded in a rural part of New England away from civilization and cares for their son (Charlie Heaton) sacrificially, who is completely paralyzed and therefore dependent on care since a car accident. Her only contact is her colleague dr. Wilson (Oliver Platt), with whom she leads occasional video chats. When she decides to take the orphan boy Tom (Jacob Tremblay) home, there seems to be something positive in her life. But Tom disappears on the first evening when a dangerous blizzard rages. From then on, Mary is increasingly afflicted by sleep problems and nightmares. Only a little later strange and terrifying things happen in Mary's house. Tom is really dead?
