Storyline:The Danish landscape painter Einar Wegener (Eddie Redmayne) leads with his wife Gerda (Alicia Vikander), also a painter, a busy artist life in Copenhagen in the twenties. The marriage of the two is happy until Einar's life undergoes a fundamental change one day: When Gerda's model is prevented, she asks her husband to be portrayed as a woman portrayed by her. Einar manages the embodiment of a woman so well that Gerda completely enthusiastically baptizes the character "Lili" and from then on lives out more and more frequently together with her husband this role play. But for Einar, Lilli is soon more than just a role, he discovers her true identity. He decides to go to a gender reassignment surgery in order to live as a woman.
